ITINERARY

This is a sample itinerary – you can customize it to your needs.

Upon arrival at Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) in Amman, you will receive a warm and friendly welcome by our Amani Tours representative upon disembarkation from aircraft. Our representative will be holding a sign with your name for identification and will assist you with obtaining a visa & during customs procedures. After collecting your luggage, exit the customs area to drive for approx. 40 min. to your hotel in Amman.

In the Old Testament, Amman was called Rabbath-Ammon which is the name of Saint Lot’s son, and in the New Testament, it is referred to as Philadelphia after Ptolemaios II – Philadelphius 285 – 246 B.C. Points of interest in Amman include admiring the ruins of ancient Amman at the Citadel and enjoy the breathtaking view of the city from high up. Visit the Roman Amphitheatre downtown, sit on the stairs and feel the history. View the impressive Umayyad Palace and explore the interesting artifacts on display at the Archaeological and folkloric Museum.

After breakfast, travel (app 2 hours) to Jerash, the best example of a Roman provincial city in the whole Middle East. While listening to our tour guide and marveling at the breathtakingly well preserved Roman ruins of the ancient city you will feel that you are completely transported 2000 years back in time. Jerash is one of the largest and the most well preserved sites of Roman architecture in the world outside Italy. After Jerash we continue our trip to Ajloun to visit the Ajloun castle. It is beautifully preserved and with its structures, towers, chambers, galleries and staircases is one of the most popular attractions in Jordan. We go to Umm Qais, the site of the ancient Greco-Roman town of Gadara, one of the beautiful cities of the Decapolis where you will have a magnificent view over the north Jordan Valley, the Golan Heights and the Sea of Galilee. Overnight in Amman.

Leave in the morning to drive south west for approx. 30 min. to visit Mount Nebo, which is one of the most revered holy sites of Jordan and the place where it is believed Moses stood and saw the promised land. Then drive for approx. 20min. to Madaba, the ‘City of Mosaics”. Madaba’s main attraction – in the contemporary Greek Orthodox church of St. George – is a wonderfully vivid, 6th-century Byzantine mosaic map showing the entire region from Jordan and Palestine in the north, to Egypt in the south. Then drive south along the King’s highway to Kerak, which is famous for its delicious traditional Arabic food, the mansaf and has one of the three largest castles in the region, the crusader castle Kerak. Arrive at the evening to the hotel in Petra and spend overnight there.

After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a full day visit of the ancient Nabatian city of Petra. We will guide you from the visitor’s center all the way through the Siq (a long narrow gorge) arriving first at the magnificent site of the Treasury then the Theatre, the Court house, and the Roman Columns in the Basin will be also included. Walking up 800 steps to the Monastery might be a little bit tiring but you can hire a donkey if your feet give up. Return to the visitor’s center and overnight at Petra. Optional: Petra by night tour only on Mon, Wed and Thu from 20:30 to 22:30

Return to Amman and end of tour.
